Louis Siu

Founder and artistic director of Toolbox Percussion, Siu was the principal percussionist of the Macao Orchestra and one of the founding members of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. His orchestral appearances include concerts with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and Qatar Philharmonic. He received his music education at Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Chinese University of Hong Kong , he then graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His teachers included Jack van Geem, David Herbert, James Boznos, Mark Robinson and Alison Pratt. He embarked PROJECT.TT in 2007 to promote music for percussion and tenor timpani, creating a platform for composers to experiment. Siu taught at the School of Creative Media in the City University of Hong Kong, he regularly conducts masterclasses at the Kasetsart University in Bangkok. He currently serves as part-time instructor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
