Rachel Lee is currently a student studying in the Royal Academy of Music in London with percussion as her major instrument and piano as her minor. Her current teachers include Mr. Sam Walton, Mr. Bill Lockhart (Royal Opera House, London) and Mr. Ben Hoffnung (London Mozart Players and Academy of Ancient Music timpanist). She has also attended lessons with famous percussionists such as Mr. Eric Sammut, Mr. Colin Currie, Mr. Aidy Spilett etc.
Rachel started her piano study at the age of 4 and soon after that, she started to learn percussion as her second instrument at the age of 6. Rachel is also a multi-instrumentalist, holding a LTCL for piano, ABRSM Grade 8 in percussion, Grade 8 GuZheng from the Central Conservatory of Music, and a Grade 8 in Vocal from the ABRSM. Rachel is also a very active participant in competitions and concerts, and had won numerous prizes both in the music festivals and also various international competitions, such as the Hong Kong Young Musician of the Year. She recently joined the English Touring Opera in a community opera performance in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom and also premiered John Adam's Inuksuit in Asia on 1st January, 2015.
As an ensemble player, she is currently the principal percussionist in the Hong Kong Youth Wind Philharmonia as well as the member of the Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia.
